Carve Club – How to make a two-colour lino print
Carve Club is a relaxed, monthly lino session focused on slowing down and getting absorbed in the rhythmic, meditative process of carving and printmaking. You’ll learn traditional carving techniques, mark-making, and ways to develop your own visual language. Each month explores a different theme, using the work of well-known lino printmakers as inspiration. Erin from Pick Pretty Paints will guide you through tools and techniques while encouraging experimentation and personal expression.
June 27th – Rules of Reduction
This session introduces the basic steps of creating a two-layer reduction lino print. You’ll learn how to plan your design so that the first printed layer works with the second, and how to prepare and carve each stage of the block.Erin will guide you through the process step by step, showing how straightforward it is to build up colour and shape in layers to create a striking two-colour print. This month’s workshop will take inspiration from marine life and rock pool imagery.
Erin is a printmaker, author, teacher and paint creator based in the Sloop Studios in St. Ives.
