Wet Felted Bags

Learn how to turn sheep’s wool into a sturdy, seamless bag using wool fibres, water, soap and a fair amount of rubbing and rolling!

Wet felting is a traditional method of making fabric by encouraging loose wool fibres to interlock. In this workshop you’ll learn how to lay out the wool, add layers to build up the shape of the bag, and use water, soap, rubbing and rolling to felt the fibres together into a strong piece of fabric. You’ll work through the process step by step and learn how to shape and finish your bag, with time to add your own colours and details.

No previous experience is needed. This is a hands-on process, so expect to be using your hands throughout the session and doing some physical work.

All materials provided and feel free to bring something to eat to sustain you!

Suitable for ages 13+.
