Unschool of Art Nov-Dec
The Unschool of Art is a regular Saturday afternoon group running in 5 or 6 week blocks throughout the year and covering drawing, painting, printmaking and clay among MANY other things. Sessions are £16 each and booked in blocks. This block starts on 7th November and ends on 5th December.
The Unschool of Art is a place for young people to explore art, materials and ideas without the pressure to produce the same thing as everyone else. Each block introduces artists to different materials, techniques and ways of working, while giving them plenty of room to develop their own ideas. We do teach skills, but we don’t believe in teaching a technique simply because it’s on the lesson plan. Our method is to pay attention to what the kids are interested in and introduce new skills and possibilities when they become useful. This means they learn practical skills, but also learn to experiment, solve problems and work things out for themselves.
We’re interested in creativity as something bigger than making nice pictures. It’s about curiosity, noticing, asking questions, trying things, changing your mind and finding different ways of doing things.
If you’d like your young artist to try a session before committing to a block, please get in touch and we’ll arrange a trial session where we can.
