At The Art Room in Redruth, our adult sessions are all about freedom to explore – no pressure, no grades, no “right” way to make art. Whether you’re here to try something new, brush up old skills, or simply enjoy a couple of hours making a glorious mess with like-minded people, you’ll find a warm welcome, plenty of tea, and endless creative possibilities.
We run regular sessions and one-off workshops for all experience levels – from complete beginners to seasoned makers – with an emphasis on experimentation, fun, and community.
Whether you’re looking for a regular creative outlet, want to try something completely new, or simply need the time and space to get stuck in without worrying about clearing the kitchen table afterwards, there’s something here for you.
Scribblegroups – Art Play for Grown-Ups
If you’d like to try painting, printing, clay, or drawing without the pressure of formal lessons, Scribblegroups are for you. These weekly sessions are all about creative play – exploring different materials and techniques in a relaxed atmosphere with guidance available when you want it. Expect plenty of tea, laughter, and the freedom to take ideas in your own direction.
Claygroup
Our Claygroup sessions on Thursday mornings and evenings are guided, hands-on “clay play” experiences. Over a few weeks you’ll explore hand-building techniques, experiment with materials, and create pieces ready for firing in our kiln. No formal lessons – just creative exploration, shared learning, and coffee on tap.
Creative Textiles with Phil Kincaid
Join Phil Kincaid from Mining Exchange Studios to learn – and then break – the rules of hand sewing and textile art. These weekly drop-in sessions are friendly, flexible, and full of inventive approaches to making unique textile pieces.
Guest Workshops
We love to collaborate with other artists and makers to keep our offer fresh and inspiring. From specialist craft techniques to experimental art practices, Guest Workshops change regularly, so keep an eye on what’s coming up.
Parties & Team-Building
The Art Room is also available for private hire – perfect for creative birthday celebrations, staff team-building, or just a get-together with friends. We can tailor activities to suit your group, from relaxed art play to structured projects.
