Carve Club – Form & Movement in Lino Print

Carve Club is a relaxed, monthly lino session focused on slowing down and getting absorbed in the rhythmic, meditative process of carving and printmaking. You’ll learn traditional carving techniques, mark-making, and ways to develop your own visual language. Each month explores a different theme, using the work of well-known lino printmakers as inspiration. Erin from Pick Pretty Paints will guide you through tools and techniques while encouraging experimentation and personal expression.

April 25th — Take Flight In this session we’ll explore the construction of animals and birds in lino print. You’ll learn techniques for carving finer detail and ways to vary the surface of the block to suggest movement, energy, and texture. Taking inspiration from the bold animal figures and birds of Mark Hearld, we’ll look at how pattern, line, and shape bring printed forms to life.
