Unschool of Art: Go Wild (ages 8-14)
The Unschool of Art is a regular Saturday afternoon group running in 5 or 6 week blocks throughout the year and covering drawing, painting, printmaking and clay among MANY other things. Sessions are £16 each and booked in blocks.
GO WILD is a block of 5 weeks starting on Saturday 19th September at 2pm – 3.30pm (full list of dates below).
A small date change: we’ve moved the start of Unschool of Art back by one week, so our first session will now be Saturday 19 September instead of the 12th. Everyone who’s already booked has been contacted, and the five sessions will now run through to 17 October
Unschool of Art
The Unschool of Art is a place for children to explore art, materials and ideas without the pressure to produce the same thing as everyone else.
Sessions run on Saturday afternoons in 5–6 week blocks, which are booked as a block rather than as individual sessions. Each block introduces children to different materials, techniques and ways of working, while giving them plenty of room to develop their own ideas.
We do teach skills, but we don’t believe in teaching a technique simply because it’s on the lesson plan. Our teachers pay attention to what children are trying to do and introduce new skills and possibilities when they become useful. This means children learn practical skills, but also learn to experiment, solve problems and work things out for themselves.
We’re interested in creativity as something bigger than making nice pictures. It’s about curiosity, noticing, asking questions, trying things, changing your mind and finding different ways of doing things.
If you’d like your child to try a session before committing to a block, please get in touch and we’ll arrange a trial session where we can.
